It's been a long stretch of holidaying for a lot of people (and squeezing in some hard work in-between). Right from December, it's been non-stop eating - Christmas, valentines and now Chinese New Year. I can't imagine the amount of stress we put on our bodies. For those who hold parties and celebrations at home, it's double whammy. The stress of preparing for such gatherings really puts a toll on most.
This is the time when I will think of clearing out my system (both physically & mentally). DetoxYoga is something that I use on a regular basis.
I will start off the morning with a glass of warm lemon water (sometimes with a hint of maple syrup or honey), followed by a round of breathing exercises to ground myself and to clear out the breathing system.
The next couple of hours will be spent going through 10 to 15 poses (depending on how much I can manage that morning). These poses will activate various glands, achieving a self-purging effect to rid the body of toxins.
I will end the session with a visualisation / meditation session, allowing my mind to be at ease completely.
For the rest of the day (and the next 2 days, in fact), I will go into semi-fasting mode. Meals, if taken will be kept light but most times I will be drinking only organic rooibos tea and nibbling on organic biscuits. Some, if not all of the poses, will be repeated on the next 2 days together with the breathing and meditation /visualisation.
The result? Both mind and body feel refreshed as the load is lightened. Constant monthly maintenance is recommended to keep the mind and body light.
I used to offer this only to a few of my private students who requested for something along these lines. I think perhaps it is a good time to introduce this everyone so as of March 2007, this will be a monthly feature on our list of in-house workshops alongside the others like Chakradance and OSHO meditation.
The first DetoxYoga session will be on 31 March (9am to 12 noon). Do check our website www.lavidaloft.net or email us for more information.
